We are currently in Valparaiso, the second largest city in Chile. We spent the previous five nights in the largest Chilean city and capital, Santiago. We stayed in a private room in the most beautiful district of the city called Bellavista. We quickly learned that being in Santiago is all about people watching. Everywhere you go there are street performers, dancers, bands and markets. On Sunday, there is a market where people bring all of their old things to a park and lay them out on the grass. Locals pick through their items and get them at incredibly low prices. We watched one lady pull out thirty dresses and in thirty minutes, they were gone like the wind. "One mans junk is another mans treasure," or so it has been said. Please enjoy the pictures from our relaxing stay in the hectic city of Santiago.
Bellavista- a popular area with restaurants and lots of nightlife

The street art- every building is more colorful than the next. This might get a bit redundant

We loved swirving up and down the streets observing the art and the colors

We eventually left Bellavista to visit the bustling city center
Plaza Armada

This street was always full of people except for this exact moment

More European style architecture

La Moneda Palace- the president of Chile lives here. These horses protect him and look pretty at the same time, a twofor

Street performers of all sorts can be seen entertaining for tips

A park in the middle of the city

Things get crazy on Sundays when "junk" goes on sale

Santa Lucia hill

Statues in Argentina and Chile that represent the aboriginal people

San Cristobal hill and Santiago, one of the more polluted cities in the world. There are mountains all around so the smog gets trapped

That's not fog folks

At the top of the hill

Also a beautiful church

A cat who made the hike

And last but certainly not least, our heaping pile of nachos from a Mexican restaurant right across the street from our home. Mmmmmm mmmmmmm good!!!

We will see you all next time from the artsy city of Valparaiso. Get ready for more street art and stacked houses with a view.
