We are currently in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia for our eighth night. We were only supposed to be here for six nights, but weather changed our plans a bit and stopped our boat from leaving to Gili Islands. Luckily for us, Ubud is a pretty great place to be stuck. The city is known as the cultural and spiritual center of Bali. People come here to find themselves and free their minds from everyday stresses. It has a very slow pace of life. We have been enjoying lounging in coffee shops, practicing yoga, and walking around rice fields. Doing nothing is what Ubud is all about. We have also met many nice people in Bali. Everyone seems to have positive energy which adds to the buzz of the city. On our way to Goa Gajah, we ran into a great guy from Japan who we spent a couple days with. Our energies matched immediately. He is still learning to speak English, but it didn't matter. Sometimes connections are there and language barriers are not so important. We have learned a lot while in Ubud and we sincerely look forward to being here again one day. Maybe next time, one of you will come with us. Please enjoy the following images from our relaxing trip.

Coffee Plantation- here we tried the coffee beans that have gone through the digestive system of a Luwak. Apparently they are more boisterous at night.

On our final day, we went and watched the herons fly into Petula for the night. 15,000- 20,000 birds nest on the trees in Petula. We watched them fly in for a couple of hours. It was a pretty neat experience as long as you don't get pooped on

ReplyDeletefyi there's a coffee shop in SF called blue bottle that has the same "science lab" type coffee as your picture, we will go when you get back.
ReplyDeletethose aren't real komodo dragons. oh, you thought you could pull one over on pat, but you can't! real monkeys, real ducks, real rooster, real luwak (whatever the heck that is), real japanese person, but the dragon is cast in stone...
ReplyDeleteThat place looks awesome!!! SO wish we could have met you guys there. And finally food pics! (usually our favorite photo subject ;). That was some crazy looking grub! It's funny that Kaveh (HI KAVEH!) mentioned Blue Bottle,as we are holding 3 bags for you guys in our freezer :) BEST coffee we've had in the States, for sure. Italy's Cappuccinos... well, you know....
ReplyDeleteThis looks like our kind of place. When we all "make-it", lets be sure to go back there together. Actually, lets go back there together no matter what. We can drag Pat with us too to verify the authenticity of the Komodo Dragons (don't tell him if they are real or not. Make him come! :)
The monkey picture is ridiculous. National Geographic would be happy to buy it from you, btw; No stealing necessary. Seriously though, check out the pics that one last years Nat. Geo. photo contest:

The monkey fits right in (Its free to submit your pics. You should send in a few some day)
Thanks, as always, for sharing.

But I can see a lot of gorgeous photos here. I love this blog!
I cannot wait for the next post.
Your Tomo, Tomo
P.S. I'm sorry, I made a mistake posting my last comment.
was this the blog to end all blogs? come on, it's been almost two weeks, tomo and i are getting antsy...
ReplyDeleteSorry everyone. The new blog post is coming soon. We are in Buenos Aires, Argentina right now heading to Patagonia in a couple days. Stay tuned for more adventures to come. Pat, Ryan, and Tomo. I'm glad you are all friends now!!!
ReplyDeleteWe're tomos, Scott. I think you guys should add a forum section to your website so the three of us can keep chatting after this adventure winds down. We could reminisce about past pictures, ponder questions left unanswered ,ie. "why DID the Santorini turtle cross the road?" (It's been bothering me not knowing), post pictures of our kids, etc.... Just throwing it out there... With Kocham
ReplyDeleteYes! We're getting antsy just waiting for the next posting.
ReplyDelete( I learned a new word "antsy"! Domo Arigato. )
I think "Adding a forum section" is a good idea! Because it will help me improve my English.
I've heard this phrase before. "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
I don't know this answer. But I learned that everything cross the road in US. Domo Arigato.
Enjoy your time in South America, Scott-san & Emilia-san!
HAHAHAhahahahahaha. Tomo you are funny!
ReplyDeleteScott and Mila, go back and get Tomo. Please.
ReplyDeleteYeah! Get me please. And take me to a Top Dog. I want to try and eat Top Dog Hot Dogs. That's my dream.
ReplyDeleteDomo Arigato for your kind attention.
Scott & Emilia, have a nice trip! I can't wait for next post!
