Operation Koh Samui- First Stop, Lamai

Hello Everyone,

We are currently in Koh Samui, Thailand at Chaweng beach. We spent the previous five nights at the quieter, more secluded, Lamai beach. We stayed at Vanda House Resort which cost approximately 17 dollars for the two of us. We expected a small but comfortable place. What we got was a large, very peaceful place with a balcony. Sometimes the pictures online don't do a place justice. This was a great spot to relax after a hard day of sweating at the beach. Lamai has been our favorite beach in Thailand thus far. It is a long stretch of soft sand with views all around. The weather was perfect and the sunsets spectacular. Here are a few pictures from our stay.

First, we had to stop over for a night in Surat Thani so that we could catch our boat out to the island in the morning. This is our hotel (MyPlace @ Surat Thani) and our welcome from the staff. It's the little things sometimes

Our home at Lamai beach for five nights. 17 dollars can go a long way in Thailand

The beach day 1

Like a boss

Grandfather rock, Grandmother rock, and one other. It's a pretty unique area. Nature has a sense of humor

Enjoying some time together with a view

Lamai viewpoint nearby

Taking all of these pictures was making us hungry. If only Thailand had a Mexican restaurant nearby...

We see you over there

Later that evening

Koh Samui has by far the most beautiful sunsets to date. They light up the island, just like Mila's eyes :-)

For the next day, we decided to get some exercise and took a walk to a nearby waterfall with yet another view of the island

After a long walk, we took a little R&R under this hut. The mosquitos kept us company

Back to the beach to watch the sun go to sleep

The greatest establishment in Thailand. Thankfully, there are 8,000 of them

Another day at the office. This is probably getting a bit repetitive, but these are days we don't mind repeating

Mila getting all artistic as per usual

I'm the king of the world

Mila built this with her own bare hands

A romantic beach dinner for some lucky couple. It wasn't us...Next time!

And this is a bit ahead of schedule, but today we found a painting that we absolutely fell in love with. It is being sent to the U.S. as we speak. We can't wait to hang it in our home (when we get one) when we return

Three more days in Thailand, then off to Malaysia. We hope everyone is healthy and happy.
