Operation Koh Samui Completed- Chaweng Beach/ Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello Family and Friends,

First off, we would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! We will be celebrating our turkey day in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Mila found a nice restaurant near us that will be serving a traditional Thanksgiving feast so that is where we will spend our evening. We hope that you all get a chance to relax and be with loved ones over the long weekend. We are thankful for everyone in our lives (you know who you are) and we can't wait to see everybody when we get back. We are also thankful to have each other and for this amazing journey that we are on. Now to the meat and potatoes.

Chaweng beach vs Lamai beach

We really loved both areas for different reasons, but we would probably head back to Lamai in the future. The beaches our roughly the same size but Chaweng beach was considerably more crowded. Chaweng beach is set up more for the twenty- something backpacker crowd. As we are no longer spring chickens, we preferred the laid back lifestyle in Lamai. The water in Chaweng was a little clearer, but the sunsets in Lamai were absolutely stunning. So in conclusion, If you go to Koh Samui and have a couple weeks, go to both. If you have a shorter stay, and prefer the sound of waves over the sound of loud music, choose Lamai. Here are some pictures from our stay

Chaweng beach- we found a very secluded spot

Chaweng city

7/11 trip. This dog tried to grub Mila's dinner. No way. Not now, not ever :) Just kidding we fed him. Who could resist that face (especially after some gentle nuzzling)

Our walk from Chaweng to Big Buddha and eventually to Bo Phut beach- we had read about some very beautiful temples in Koh Samui so we decided to make a day out of it. We are very happy we did

Along the way

The city next to Big Buddha temple

Mila being bludgeoned by the Predator- this guy was made out of bicycle chains and various metals. Very unique peace of art

The first Big Buddha siting

At the temple

In for a closer view

Some statues around the temple

This is what I call an award winning smile. The Buddha's smile is pretty good too

Statues who prefer a sea view

They loved eachother

Another newer temple nearby with fascinating artwork

Can you see Mila?

View from the bridge

A massive place of worship

Beauty everywhere

Another magnificent Buddha

It started pouring after we left the temple so we ducked in to a beach side restaurant just in time before the sky started falling

Rated, by us, as the best fried rice in all of Koh Samui

Sometimes we get a bit tired after our adventures so public transportation provides a good opportunity for some shut eye. This picture was taken right now on our ferry heading back to the mainland

We hope everyone gets to eat lots of delicious food surrounded by family and friends this Thanksgiving. We wish we could be there with you guys!

  1. you guys really should have opted for a hands-on-your-heads or flailing-arms pose in front of octobuddha

  2. er, nevermind. that thing has eighteen arms, so it's duodevigintibuddha (had to look up the 18 prefix)...
