Over the last twelve days, we have stayed in four completely different Italian cities. First up was Milan where we spent one day after missing a train and sleeping at the train station (not as nice as a hotel room but much cheaper). From there, we went to Florence and stayed at the former home of our Italian friends, Manuel and Tannis with Ryan and Julita. Midway through Florence, we rented a car and drove to Greve which is in the Chianti region (amazing wine). Then, back to Florence where we had to say goodbye to Ryan and Julita. We already miss you guys! Now we are in the beautiful city of Venice where we will be for the next five days before going to Austria we think.
Our stay in Florence created many amazing memories for us:
-Standing on top of The Duomo overlooking the entire city
-Drinking bottles of wine watching the sunset at Michelangelo Plaza while listening to live musical performances
-Staring up at the statue of David regarded by many as the most beautiful sculpture in the world
-Enjoying a five hour gourmet meal at Manuel's wine bar which included a bottle of wine from 1969 and a bottle from the year Mila and Ryan were born, 1983. For those of you who wish to go to Florence, I would highly recommend going to Pitti Gola E Cantina Wine Bar. I promise you will love it or Ryan will pay for your meal (he hasn't officially agreed to this)
-We even got to celebrate Mila's and Julita's birthday (Mila 29 and Julita the big 30). For those of you who don't know, they were born on the same day exactly one year apart. Manuel and Tannis had us over at their home and cooked everyone a beautiful birthday feast. Thank you guys for an amazing ten days. Then, we sang happy birthday in English, Polish, and Italian, one of many highlights of the evening.
Greve was also incredible. We went on two different wine tastings and spent many hours in the quaint city center. One night in Greve, we rolled out hand made ravioli and ate till we couldn't squeeze anymore in. There were other great moments that we wish we could share with everyone, but this post must end at some point.
Any way, thanks for reading all that and not just looking at the pictures :-) Please enjoy the following images.
