Santorini, Greece- Our Island Getaway

Hello Everyone,

Right now, we are on board a ferry heading back from Santorini to Athens. We will then be taking a bus to the airport and flying to Istanbul, Turkey. We are visiting four cities in Turkey (Istanbul, Cappadocia, Antalya, and Pamukkale). Last week, we were in Santorini, Greece laying on the beach and enjoying all of the fascinating sites the island had to offer. We didn't see a cloud in the sky for seven days. It was very relaxing and we are now ready to take on the more fast paced lifestyle in Istanbul. Please enjoy the following images from our island visit.

Our home for seven days

The journey around the island. It takes about an hour to get from end to end

Our trip to Fira and Oia- definitely two of the most beautiful places we have seen

Fira

Our amazing lunch- not a bad spot to enjoy a meal

Oia- just when we thought things could not get any more beautiful

Our private rooftop to enjoy the sunset- we opted for a different sunset spot

Goodnight

We hope you all enjoyed the pictures from our Santorini vacation. See you next time from Turkey!

Turtles and Ancient Greece

Hello Everyone,

We are currently on board a ship heading to Santorini, Greece. We plan on relaxing on the beach for the next week sipping Coca Cola Zeroes. For the last few days we have been in Athens, Greece visiting the Acropolis and the other ancient sites of the city. It was really an incredible experience for us. You can feel all of the history when you are atop the Acropolis looking out over the city.

The view from the top of Mount Lycabettus

The Acropolis and The Parthenon

Major work being done to ensure this building does not fall over... By the way, if you plan to visit The Parthenon, it is best to go at night (first picture). The mornings are a zoo (second picture).

Views with the Acropolis in the background. You can see it from many places throughout the city and most views warrant a photo

The Acropolis by night

These guys are part of the PPU (Parthenon Protection Unit). Ok I made that up, but as soon as the Acropolis closed, these soldiers came in to guard it.

The Temple of Olympian Zeus

Panathenaic Stadium- home of the very first modern olympic games in 1896

The Ancient Agora

Temple of Hephaestus- built in 449 BC and it's almost completely preserved

The Roman Agora

Hadrian's Library

Now to the best part. We had three different turtle sightings throughout Athens. All brought us great joy. In chronological order:

Why did the turtle cross the road?

To get a drink of water from a plastic cap (that we gave him)

Turtle experience number two

Turtle experience number three. This guy loves 2500 year old ruins and was the biggest turtle we saw.

We hope you that you all enjoyed the pictures!

Keep on truckin!!!
